About

Body Dysmorphia throughout Social Media is rapidly growing with ever our changing editing apps, plastic surgery skyrocketing, and the added pressures to young adults to look “picture perfect”. This blog is going to address all of the ins and outs of what contributes to this culture of beauty ideals online and hopefully, will help others gain insight and access to avenues of help or inspiration. There are some other blogs out there that discuss this topic, but sadly, not many are too well known or discussed on a regular basis. We get so caught up in looking perfect for our followers, that we forget to check on what it is doing to our mental state and how we are looking at ourselves “without the lenses”.

My name is Jenna Kijauskas and I am a Journalism student at West Virginia University. As an almost 22 year old, I have been subjected to the sink hole of social media myself and what it can do to a body image. When I am not avidly online searching my favorite celebrities like Jameela Jamil, Mila Kunis, or Steve Carell- I love to write poetry, read, and gush over my puppy Steevie ( or any puppies for that matter.)

As for Social Media goes- I spend most of my time and do most of my writing on Twitter or Instagram – so give me a follow and read up all on how social media and body dysmorphia align!
